The Molecular Core provides a number of services to the molecular biology community that should make the performance of their research programs more efficient, convenient and cost effective. The major components are:

Biological & Tissue Culture Reagents – The Molecular Core stocks and orders from multiple vendors that include Invitrogen, Qiagen, New England Biolabs, Biorad, Clontech and Applied Biosystems, Inc. (Perkin Elmer).

Oligonucleotides – The Molecular Core is now carrying oligonucleotides from both Sigma and IDT (Integrated DNA Technologies). Both companies provide high quality oligonucleotides at very competitive prices, as well as many specialized oligonucleotides such as RNAi and oligo-chromaphores for qPCR.

DNA Sequencing – In order to provide competitative pricing and access to the latest sequencing technology the Molecular Core has teamed up with Agencourt. The Agencourt representative is planning to hold informational sessions to familiarize the UCHC community with there services.

DNA Microarray – The Microarray Facility is producing slides with mouse cDNA and human oligonucleotides for fluorescent hybridization. The activities of this core are evolving rapidly and user participation is encouraged to shape how the facility interacts with its user base.

Quantitative PCR – Through the Molecular core users have acess to either a BioRad ICycler or the ABI 7500 machines.

Gel Imaging – At the Molcular Core in L3077 there is access to a SYNGENE G:Box for UV imaging and chemi illuminecense imaging.

User Information & Registration

All of the Molecular Core's transactions are computer based and increasingly we will be utilizing direct ordering through this intranet connection. Your responsibility is to obtain a User ID from the Molecular Core Staff and chose a Password that ensures that all transactions can be traced to their origin.
